The Town of Montague, located in Kings County, was incorporated in 1917 and has a population of 2,000. Marketed as "Montague The Beautiful" because of the tranquil river running through the town, the lovely tree-lined streets and the stately heritage homes.
 

On September 28, 2018, through an amalgamation of seven municipalities and adjacent unincorporated areas,Three Rivers became an incorporated town within Kings County in Prince Edward Island.  The municipalities that were amalgamated included two towns – Georgetown and Montague – and five rural municipalities – Brudenell, Cardigan, Lorne Valley, Lower Montague, and Valleyfield.
